How we research archery gear

Short version: Bow Advice is an editorial affiliate site. We compare listed specs, fit ranges, package contents, and competing models for a stated buyer job. We do not invent chronograph readings, range hours, or “field tests” we did not document.

What a recommendation is for

Every guide or review should answer: who is this for, what job does it do (beginner practice, deer hunting, traditional shooting, youth), and when should you skip it.

Evidence we use

• Manufacturer and retailer listings for draw length, draw weight, axle-to-axle, brace height, advertised speed (labeled as listed/IBO when that is the source), and kit contents.
• Package reality — what ships versus what you still need to buy (arrows, release, sight, rest, target).
• Owner-feedback patterns when available — recurring praise and complaints, not cherry-picked quotes.
• Peer models in the same price band so a “best” claim has a comparison set.

What we do not claim by default

• Hands-on chronograph FPS, decibel readings, or group sizes we did not measure and record.
• Years of combined experience, monthly reader counts, or “products field-tested” marketing stats without a live inventory source.
• Credentials (coach, pro-shop tech, USA Archery instructor) unless they match the author profile we publish for that byline.
• That brands cannot influence us while simultaneously selling paid placements — we do not sell rankings.
